The Role of Hoashi (Wires)

Hoashi wires are firmly fixed to dashibo bars of the stem and stern.
Thick wires are used to withstand the force of the sail. Hoashi plays an important role to support the sail.

Metal rings are attached on the ropes from the sail ( hoashi tsukenawa ) so that the wires easily slide for spreading or storing the sail.
